Day 1: Sai gon arrival

Take a flight to Sai Gon. Welcome at the airport and check-in at the hotel. Free at your leisure. Overnight in Sai Gon.

Day 2: Sai gon – City tour – Cuchi Tunnel

Leaving Saigon we drive through pleasant countryside before arriving at Cu Chi. Before entering the tunnels we watch a short introductory video showing how the tunnels were constructed. We then spend the next hour exploring the maze of tunnels. Also on display are various mantraps and the remains of an American tank as well as numerous bomb craters made by 500 pound bombs dropped by B52 bombers.

In the afternoon, we visit the following places of interest.

  • The Reunification Palace: Here on April 30th 1975 the ‘American War’ officially ended when tank number 843 of the North Vietnamese Army crashed through the gates of what was, at the time the residence of the President of the Republic of Vietnam.
  • War Remnants Museum: Formerly known as the Museum of American War Crimes, this is a poignant display of the futility of war.
  • Notre Dame Cathedral and Old Post Office: Built between 1877 and 1883 this is one of the best examples of classical French colonial architecture.
  • Ben Thanh Market: This bustling market is very popular with tourists, primarily due to its central location. It has a wide selection of goods ranging from fake Nike shoes to beautiful silk Ao Dais.

Day 3: Sai gon – Mekong river – Sai gon

Breakfast at hotel, and then drive 02 hours to Ben Tre province. On arrival, take a boat on Ben Tre River – one of tributaries of Mekong River, sightseeing lively activities along river. Stop at local brick kilns to see how to make bricks in handy traditional style. Continue going through palm tree- lined canals and visit one of coconut-processing workshops located along canal. It is a chance to interact with local people to know more about rural life and enjoy some candies, coconut juice. Take a short walk to family workshop where they make traditional mats and enjoy some fruits and tea.

Take a motor cart or cycle riding on shady road, pass by green fields and vegetable plantation and find out about tropical culture from peasants. Lunch at “Coconut riverside “Restaurant with specialties such as: Elephant- ear Fish, spring rolls… After lunch, take rowing boats along water palm creek back to pier and drive back to Saigon. Day 4: Sai gon – Da nang – Hoi an (flight)

 

After breakfast, transfer to Sai Gon airport to take a flight to Da Nang then proceed to Hoi An by car. Check in hotel and free at your leisure

Late afternoon , get on boat for 2 hours streaming down the Cua Dai estuary  to enjoy the sunset on the river. Overnight in Hoi An (B )

Day 5: Hoi an – My son Sanctuary

In the morning, take a private car from Hoi An Town to My Son Holy Land, a World Heritage, 50 km southwest of Hoi An. Located in a lush valley, My Son was a capital and religious center of Cham people, now remaining with red brick towers and sanctuaries. My Son, considered being in the same league as some of Southeast Asia’s greatest archaeological sites, including Angkor in Cambodia, Bagan in Myanmar, Ayutthaya in Thailand and Borobudur in Indonesia. These towers and sanctuaries were built from the 7 to 13 centuries.

Back to Hoi An for lunch. After the relax, it is light excursion to go around tiny town of Hoi An for city tour: 400 years old Japanese Bridge, 300 years old Chinese temple, 200 years old Vietnamese former merchants’ house. Overnight in Hoi An (B, L)

Day 6: Hoi an – Hue – King Tombs

Free in the morning until getting picked up and leave Hoi An for Hue via the scenic Hai Van Pass with a stop to view the spectacular panorama of the central coastline.  Arrive in Hue in late afternoon , check in and take a rest. Guide will meet you up at hotel and leave for lunch before discovering this amazing old capital of Nguyen Dynasty. The afternoon continues with a visit to the elaborate tombs of emperors Tu Duc & Khai Dinh. This guided tour gives you a deep understanding about King’s philosophy of geomancy and how this affected royal life.

Day 7: Hue – Ha noi (flight)

After breakfast ,  start to discover the former imperial capital of Vietnam. A boat trip on the romantically named Perfume River visits Hue’s best-known religious sites, Thien Mu Pagoda. Then continue to discover Imperial Citadel from where the Nguyen sDynasty ruled between 1802 and 1945 including Flag Tower, Noon Gate, Nine Dynastic Urns, Nine Holy Cannons, Thai Hoa Palace, and Forbidden Purple City.

Transfer to the airport for the flight to Hanoi . On arrival , Welcome by our guide

Day 8: Ha noi City Tour

Get pick-up for a city tour which is split into a morning and afternoon schedule, with a tasty lunch in between. We start to visit:

  • Ho Chi Minh Complex: Completed in 1975, the complex includes Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, the Presidential Palace, House-on-Stilts, and the Ho Chi Minh Museum.
  • The Temple of Literature: Originally built as a temple to Confucius, this is the site of Vietnam’s first University dating back to 1070. Inside are the stone steles mounted on the backs of turtles, inscribed with names of Vietnam best scholars.
  • Museum of Ethnology: This museum is widely acknowledged as the best in the country and has an extensive display dedicated to Vietnam’s 54 Ethnic minority peoples.
  • Ngoc Son Temple and Hoan Kiem Lake: The Ngoc Son temple is set on a tiny island on the Hoan KiemLake, its history dating back to the 13th century. The temple is reached by crossing the The Huc Bridge which literally means the ‘Place Touched by Morning Sunbeams’. The Hoan Kiem Lake is the local point of the city and the source of many legends.
  • One hour Cyclo Tour through the Old Quarter: Also known as the 36 streets, this bustling area of narrow streets is home to literally thousands of small businesses and shopkeepers.

Overnight in Ha Noi (B, L)

Day 9: Ha noi – Ha long

Transfer by road approximately four hours to the port of Ha Long.  Hop aboard the L’Azalee a traditional wooden junk and unwind over lunch as you glide along the jade green waters dotted with towering karsts. You’ll visit ancient limestone caves, swim in the salty waters and go exploring by kayak. Back on board, enjoy a sunset cocktail and dine on the bays fresh seafood. Overnight on board (B, L, D)

Day 10: Ha long – Ha noi

Wake to the sun peeking over the horizon and see the bay at first light. Watch as vendors paddle their small sampans teeming with goods to the nearby boats and villages. Visit the Surprise Cave with its impressive limestone formations created over generations.  Look for the sacred turtle, the giant Buddha and the frog on the rock! Arrive back into the port around midday for a quick lunch and then return to Ha Noi. Overnight in Ha Noi (B, L)

Day 11: Ha noi – Mai CHAU

Depart Ha Noi at 08.00 for a 2 hours heading south-west of Hoa Binh town, where we will visit a Muong village. After having met the local villagers, drive back to Hoa Binh town for lunch. We continue driving to Mai Chau and arrive there late afternoon. Check in the local home stay at Lac village. The rest of your time is free at your leisure to explore the village by your own. Overnight in Mai Chau (B, L)

Day 12: Mai Chau – Sa Linh – Ninh Binh

After breakfast, we drive for an hour to the Hmong village of Sa Linh where we will spent an hour walking around to see how the people of this isolated village do business and make their living. Return to Mai Chau for lunch. Then drive downhill to Ninh Binh. Overnight in Ninh Binh (B, L)

Day 13: Hoa Lu – Van LONG – Ha noi

Today you will spend one hour visiting the Dinh and Le temples of the Ancient Capital Hoa Lu and then you will move to Van Long for lunch. You may also enjoy an optional oxcart ride to Van Long Wharf for a 2 hour boat trip along the Van Long River. Along the way you will see caves, green rice fields, limestone mountains and the rural life of the locals before returning to Ha Noi. Overnight in Ha Noi (B, L)

Day 14: Ha noi departure

Free to do your last shopping before transferring to the airport for your flight home. Tours ends (B)

  • No Show  = 100 % charge
  • 1-7days  = 50 % of the tour price
  • 8-14days  = 30 % of the tour price
  • 15-30 days             = 10 % of the tour price
  • 31 days up             = no charge
