This package is designed for those who want to get an overview of Sài Gòn and the Mekong Delta in just one delightful day. You not only gain information about the city where the Việt Nam War ended in 1975, but you can also learn about the culture of people whose lives for centuries have been attached to the Mekong River and its delta.
● Orientation view of Việt Nam’s history and culture
● Learn about the Việt Nam War at the Reunification Palace and the War Remnants Museum
● Admire the French colonial architecture of Sài Gòn Notre Dame Cathedral and Central Post Office
● Cruise along the Mekong River by motorboat
● Enjoy a hand-rowed sampan under the shade of water-coconut trees
● Visit a traditional workshop where they produce coconut candies, rice paper, or rice wine…
● Great value tour with hotel pick-up, entrance fees, and round-trip transport included
● The Reunification Palace (*), also known as Independence Palace, was the home and workplace of the President of South Việt Nam until April 30, 1975. When the North Vietnamese Army’s tank number 843 crashed the main gate, the Việt Nam War became a part of history and this palace became the symbol of reunification.
● War Remnants Museum (*), a must-see attraction for most visitors, was founded on September 4, 1975. It was first named “Exhibition House for U.S. and Puppet Crimes”. In 1990, the name was changed to “Exhibition House for Crimes of War and Aggression”. In 1995, a week before an announcement by the U.S. President, Bill Clinton, for the normalization of diplomatic relations, the name was changed to War Remnants Museum, as we all know it now.
● Notre Dame Cathedral (*) and the Old Post Office, built between 1877 and 1883, are two of the best examples of classical French colonial architecture.
After that, lunch is served at a local restaurant before we drive 1,5 hours to the Mekong River. We will stop along the way for refreshments and toilet.
● Upon arrival, we board a motor-boat and cruise along a vast network of canals and channels to enjoy wonderful views of the Mekong River, including four famous islands “Dragon, Unicorn, Turtle and Phoenix”.
● Crossing the River to the other side, we will stop at a traditional workshop to witness a step-by-step process on how to make coconut candy while trying some yourself.
● Visit a local family’s home, where we are welcomed by local musicians who will play and sing for us as we enjoy tea and fruits while chatting with other guests.
● Enjoy what local people offer by hand rowing a sampan along the shady, breezy canal. We will transfer to local transportation called Xe Lôi to travel throughout the villages.
We drive another 1,5 hours back to Sài Gòn. Arrive back to Hồ Chí Minh city about 06:00p.m. We complete the tour excursion by taking you back to your hotel. End of services.
