This package is designed for those who have just one free day in Sài Gòn and want to experience two of the most popular destinations nearby the city, the Củ Chi tunnels and the Mekong Delta. It will be a long day and you will spend almost 5 hours in a van travelling from city center to the Củ Chi district, to the Mekong Delta, and back to Sài Gòn. So if you have more than a day, we recommend that you make 2 different day tours to enjoy each tour at its best.
● Explore the vast network of underground tunnels used during the Việt Nam War
● Learn about life in Việt Nam during the war time and see bomb craters and tank remains
● Cruise along the Mekong River by motorboat
● Enjoy hand-rowing a sampan under the shady water-coconut trees
● Visit to a traditional workshop where they produce coconut candies, rice paper, or rice wine…
● Upon arrival, you’ll watch a brief of propaganda video, which explains how the tunnels were used to successfully defeat American military forces in combat.
● The tour continues and the guide explains some traps that were placed in the jungles of Việt Nam to either maim American soldiers or create panic amongst the ranks.
● From here, you can enter one of the tunnel entrances and crawl through the tunnels, a real experience to imagine how people could live there for an extended period!
● There is a shooting range where you can try to fire an automatic or semi-automatic weapon for a fee (this fee is not included).
● Take some rest at the end for a taste of Củ Chi boiled tapioca and thinking what humans are capable of when having to defend their home.
We drive another 1,5 hours to the Mekong Delta. Lunch is served at a local restaurant on the way.
● Upon arrival, we board a motor-boat and cruise along a vast network of canals and channels to enjoy wonderful views of the Mekong River, including four famous islands “Dragon, Unicorn, Turtle and Phoenix”.
● Stop at one of the floating fish houses; in nets and wire baskets under their houses, the villagers cultivate freshwater fish and shrimp – a major export product of the region.
● Crossing the River to the other side, we will stop at a traditional workshop to witness a step-by-step process on how to make coconut candy while trying some yourself.
● Visit a local family’s home, where we are welcomed by local musicians who will play and sing for us as we enjoy tea and fruits while chatting with other guests.
● Enjoy what local people offer by hand rowing a sampan along the shady, breezy canal. We will transfer to local transportation called Xe Lôi to travel throughout the villages.
We drive another 1,5 hours back to Hồ Chí Minh City and complete the tour excursion by taking you back to the pickup point. End of services.
