Before introducing the tour, we would like to express our sincere apology for offering you this package. We are going to recommend a unique program that most travel experts would call “crazy”. Every day, we receive many requests for visiting a floating market in a day from Sài Gòn; this would have been very easy five or six years ago, when we used to offer our guests a visit to the Cái-bè floating market, a 2,5 hour drive from here. However, this market has disappeared as modern life has brought new bridges, roads, and highways… So, we have designed this “Cái-răng Floating Market Day Trip” for those who want to visit the biggest floating market in just one stopover day. Because most activities at the market happen early in the morning, and a 3,5 hour drive from Sài Gòn, if you want to visit, you need to start around 3 a.m. We always advise our guests to visit this attraction as part of a two-day trip. Still, for those who have only one free day, and don’t know if they will have any chance to come back, this option is the best choice to discover the floating culture of the Mekong Delta.
● Cruise along the Mekong River by motorboat
● Visit the biggest floating market in the Mekong Delta
● Walk around a flea market to see a different way of trading
● Visit a traditional workshop where they produce noodles, candies…
● Cycle around a charming village
● Upon arrival, we’ll board a motor-boat and cruise along a vast network of canals and channels to enjoy wonderful views of the Mekong River.
● Visit Cái Răng floating market where colorful boats carrying juicy fruits and vegetables gather for daily exchanging. We stop at one boat to experience a local floating “house”, discover local life, and enjoy fresh fruits served by your hosts.
● If you are willing to try some local noodle soup at the market for breakfast, please set yourself free and enjoy the moment. Bon appétit!
● After that, we visit a flea market where people trade all local fruits, ingredients, vegetables, meats, fish, seafood… or snacks.
● In your visit to a local cottage industry, you can see and learn the process of making rice-paper and noodles.
● We move to a local house, where we visit a tropical fruit garden for walking around and enjoy some fruits, such as pineapple, star apple, dragon fruit, mango…
● Visit a famous pagoda before driving back to Sài Gòn.
On the way back, we will stop at Cái Bè Village where lunch will be served at a local house.
● Your host will show you a cooking demonstration and you can challenge yourself by cooking a traditional Vietnamese dish — and then enjoy your wonderful lunch afterwards.
● After that, we can choose to take a rest at the house or take a cycling tour about 30 minutes around the village; this will give you a fantastic way to experience local life.
We drive 2,5 hours from Cái Bè back to Hồ Chí Minh City and complete the tour excursion by taking back to pickup point. Tour ends around 4 – 5p.m.
