The Bassac takes you into the greener areas of the Mekong Delta, overnight on the river and into the middle of the life along the river. Bassac boats are entirely built of wood in the Mekong Delta according to the local marine traditions, and adapted for discovery cruises, with open decks offering an immediate contact with the green countryside surrounding the ship.
Bassac offers different destinations for a two-day, one-night cruise. Please check in advance to choose one of the following programs:
Day 1: Cái Bè – Trà Ôn (Lunch & Dinner)
Our driver will pick you up at 8:30 a.m. and drive about 2,5 hours to Cái Bè. We might stop along the way for taking a break or toilet. Upon arrival:
● Boarding at Cái Bè at noon. Welcome drink, introduction to the ship and crew, check into the cabins.
● Departure towards Chợ Lách on the Tiền Giang River.
● Lunch while en route. Rest on the deck and enjoy wonderful views of life along the Mekong River.
● The Bassac slips into the Chợ Lách canal, in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the river traffic, between markets and churches, a unique opportunity for a glimpse of the very varied life on the banks as well as on the water.
● By mid-afternoon, the Bassac casts anchor for a visit on shore. Be it on foot or by bicycle, be ready to discover a village in the delta while appreciating its peaceful scenery and life with simplicity.
● When you return to the boat, a complimentary drink awaits as a welcome back on board. Rest on the deck enjoying the sunset. The crew will serve dinner while the Bassac is cruising on the Mang Thit River.
● The Bassac sets anchor just downstream from Trà Ôn for the night.
Day 2: Trà Ôn – Cần Thơ (Breakfast)
The boat departs at 06:00, as the ship passes by Trà Ôn. Your breakfast will be served during the cruise towards Cần Thơ. Upon arrival, we transfer onto a local boat to visit Cái Răng, the biggest floating market in the Mekong Delta, and then visit a noodle factory shop before taking a motorboat returning to Ninh Kiều pier.
Our driver will pick you up and transfer over 3,5 hours back to Hồ Chí Minh City. Tour ends at the pickup point or somewhere you request in the city center.
Day 1: Cần Thơ – Mang Thít (Lunch & Dinner)
Our driver will pick you up at 7:30 a.m. and drive about 3,5 hours to Cần Thơ. We might stop along the way for taking a break or toilet. Upon arrival:
● Boarding at Cần Thơ at Ninh Kiều pier. Welcome drink, introduction to the ship and crew, check into the cabins. Departure downstream along the Hậu River. Lunch on board while en route.
● Turning into Nicolai Canal, towards the Mang Thít and Cổ Chiên rivers. Rest on the upper deck in scenery of rice fields, sugar cane, and forest on the near banks.
● By mid-afternoon, the Bassac casts anchor for a visit on shore: past the first tree line, quiet discovery of the peaceful life in the delta’s countryside, of rice fields, fruit trees, and the welcoming inhabitants, or, at your option, a short cycling tour of the surrounding area.
● Back at the boat, a complimentary drink welcomes you back on board. Rest on the deck or around the bar while enjoying the sunset.
● The crew serves dinner while the Bassac is cruising Mang Thít River towards her anchorage point for the night.
● The Bassac sets anchor for the night on the Mang Thít River.
Day 2: Mang Thít – Cái Bè (Breakfast)
06:00 Departure towards Cái Bè. The passengers take their breakfast at 7:00 while enjoying the scenery on the banks.
● The Bassac crosses Cổ Chiên River, then branches into Chợ Lách Canal for 30 minutes through the traffic of sand and rice barges, in scenery of fruit-drying facilities and wooden ship-building yards.
● Arrival near Cái Bè, check-out and transfer to a rowing boat for a quiet visit through a small canal if the tide allows.
● Rendezvous with a local boat, which will take you to shore for a visit to Cái Bè’s handicraft.
Our driver will pick you up and transfer 2,5 hours back to Hồ Chí Minh City. Tour ends at the pickup point or somewhere you request in the city center.
Day 1: Cần Thơ – Thốt Nốt (Lunch & Dinner)
Our driver will pick you up at 7:30 a.m. and drive about 3,5 hours to Cần Thơ. We might stop along the way for taking a break or toilet. Upon arrival:
● Boarding at Cần Thơ at Ninh Kiều pier. Welcome drink, introduction to the ship and crew, check into the cabins. Departure upstream along the Hậu River. Lunch on board while en route.
● Upon arrival at Thốt Nốt, transfer on to a longboat to take some walks at a village in Thốt Nốt.
● Boarding back at dusk, rest on the deck for the sunset while enjoying some drinks from the bar.
● Dinner is served on board. The Bassac takes cruises back to Cần Thơ and casts anchor near Cần Thơ for the night.
Day 2: Thốt Nốt – Cần Thơ (Breakfast)
The boat departs at 06:00 a.m. and your breakfast will be served during the cruise towards Cần Thơ.
