The Mekong River runs from the Tibetan plateau through China, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Việt Nam, creating millions of amazing landscapes. Every year, many travelers from around the world make their way to this area, not just for a visit, but also to admire the legendary Mekong River and its cultures. We designed this package for those of you who are looking for an authentic experience of the local life in between two countries who share one “mother-river”.
Our guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel, and drive 2,5 hours to Cái Bè. We will stop along the way for refreshments and toilet.
● Upon arrival, we will visit a flea market before cruising along a vast network of canals and channels to enjoy wonderful views of the Mekong River. Stop by a house-boat at the floating market to have fresh fruits, and see how locals do their business on the water.
● In your visits to some local cottage industries you can see a coconut candy workshop, try some snake wine, and learn how to make pop-rice, or witness the process of making rice paper.
● Cross to the other side of the Mekong River to a famous island named Tân Phong. Here we visit a tropical fruit garden, listen to Vietnamese traditional music, and slowly enjoy getting in touch with local life by taking a hand-rowing sampan.
● Lunch will be served at a local house. Your host will show you a cooking demonstration, and you can challenge yourself by cooking a traditional Vietnamese dish — and then enjoy your wonderful lunch afterwards.
● After that, we can choose to take a rest at the house or take a cycling tour about 30 minutes around the village; this will give you a fantastic way to experience local life.
Return to the house, say goodbye to your hosts, and drive to Châu Đốc. Our guide and driver will drop you at your hotel for check-in and free evening at your leisure. Overnight in Châu Đốc.
Get up early in the morning for breakfast and check-out. Our guide from the speedboat will pick you up at your hotel between 07:15 a.m. – 07:45 a.m. and transfer by a local transportation named ‘Xe Lôi’ to the city pier.
Enjoy a 5-hour cruise upstream on the Mekong River with many beautiful landscapes along the way. We assist you to get your visa to Cambodia at the border; however, you’ll need to pay, directly to the officer, around 35usd per person. You will be in Phnom Penh around 01:00 p.m. The main pier of Phnom Penh is right at the center so you can easily get a taxi or tuk tuk to any place around the city. End of services.
