Nam Cat Tien National Park makes a great venue for wildlife lovers and adventure travelers. It boasts 348 species of birds, 439 species of butterfly, and over 100 mammals including wild cats, deer, elephants, monkeys, and the rare Javan rhinoceros. Cycling and hiking are simply the best leisure activities for seeing the wild life and indulging ourselves in the jungle atmosphere. Along the jungle paths, we may catch up closely with pheasants, civets, monkeys, gibbons, and birds. Certainly, jungle leeches are always awaiting visitors. During the rainy seasons, the park serves adventure travelers a tropical rainforest experience with full sounds and senses.
Our guide and driver will pick you up at your hotel and drive about 3,5 hours to Nam Cat Tien.
Upon arrival we check in at a jungle lodge and have lunch before we trek through the forest. The trail starts opposite the hotel entrance and takes you through a well-used track with good examples of large trees (Lagerstroemia or Banglang and the well-known Thung or Tetrameles tree) with palms and cycads in the under-storey.
If you look up into the canopy you will see ferns and orchids; lianas and strangler vines are abundant. As with many trails, this is best walked in the early morning, before it becomes too hot and other people arrive, or in the late afternoon. Good possibilities of seeing pittas, partridge, and other bird species.
17.00 Pickup bicycles at the Lodge and then cycle to Elephant Hill, returning in the dark with a good chance to see wildlife.
19.30 Time for dinner. Overnight in the Lodge.
05:30 Early morning walk through the Botanic Garden to Heaven Rapids. This walk gives you a good chance to see primates and plenty of opportunities to see the wide variety of birds and other jungle life. When we return to the Lodge at about 08:00, breakfast is ready for you.
After breakfast, you will have a couple hours to relax at our viewing platform, looking to the river and bird watching, and listening to the gibbons singing.
[Optional] The group will travel by car for 9km to the edge of the forest, then hike 5km to explore the Ramsar wetland area of Bau Sau.
We leave the park in the afternoon by ferry, crossing the river back to Hồ Chí Minh City. A packed lunch will be provided for your journey. Tour ends at your hotel in the city center.
