VTE05: Trekking in Phou Khao Khuay National Park(Full Day)

Overview

This 1 day excursion offers hiking from waterfall to waterfall where you can swim and relax! The National Protected Area of Phou Khao Khouay is the nearest National Park to Vientiane. Besides some great scenery and beautiful waterfalls, the NPA offers trails through dry evergreen and mixed deciduous forests.

We will be transferred from Vientiane to Ban Hatkhai, where we have short time strolling around the village before we get further short transfer for a 2 hours trek passing through an evergreen canopy as we gain height. A picnic lunch is served on the way.

The magnificent pair of waterfalls Tad Xay and Pha Xay, particularly beautiful during and after the rainy season are reached in the afternoon. You have some free time at Tad Xay which has a pool recommended for bathing.

End of 1 day tour, we return to Vientiane from Ban Hatkhai. (Approximately: 2 hour transfer, 2-2,5 hours trekking)

*Boating: In the dry season, we are not able to take long tail boat on Houay Xai stream, so we continue the boat ride further up steam on Nam Mang to meet another trekking starting point on the river bank (2 hours trek)

● Children Policy

• From 12 years old up: pay as an adult.
• From 5 – 11 years old: Pay 75%
• Under 5 years old: Free of charge. However, only one under-five free admission per booking. If you have more than two under-five, from the second kid pays 50% each.

● What to bring:

• We suggest a small suitcase or backpack with comfortable clothes and shoes (sport shoes or flip-flops are fine), sunscreen, and mosquito repellent. Larger luggage can be left at your hotel or with us!
